Megacities of the future
The US, based on demographics, seems to have the most favourable growth outlook for retirement homes, followed by Japan and Western Europe. Retirement home operators and the real estate industry should profit from this demand.
By 2050, Germany will have approximately two workers for every retiree. Unlike Europe, Africa faces a youth bulge. By 2050, its working-age population will be two-and-a-half times current numbers.
The UN predicts that by 2050, the world’s population will be 10-billion, an increase from today’s 7.3-billion. The number of Asians living in megacities with populations of more than 10-million is expected to double by 2025.
