The inaugural cohort of twenty-five students has almost finished the theoretical section of the Rebosa Business Leader. Starting in January 2023, they will participate in a three-month mentorship programme, before becoming the first class to complete this prestigious entrepreneurial course presented by Rebosa’s implementation partner, Charter Academy.

Lesiba Sekele from Rawson Properties Linden shares “My selection into the RBL could not have come at a better time for me as a newcomer into the real estate fraternity. In June 2022, I opened the Rawson Properties Linden franchise with my wife and were thrilled and excited for one of us to receive the bursary and selection into the RBL. The course has been critical in launching our real estate business and providing me with step-by-step guidance on starting and running a real estate franchise. The course has clearly been thoughtfully structured and the exposure to industry experts and leaders has also provided me with in-depth knowledge on the real estate industry and strategic business imperatives. I also deeply appreciate the wealth of network the course exposed me to and extend my gratitude to my  learners for the cooperation and willingness to share experiences”.

The blended learning course with live facilitators is designed to be highly interactive, covering an extensive range of topics, geared to taking estate agents and entrepreneurs to the next level by enabling them to manage or own their own estate agency. Business coaches bring to the fore the practical nuances of owning and managing a real estate business.

Marcelle Lovell from RE/MAX Grassy Park shares, “I completed the NQF Level 5 Real Estate in May of this year and I gained invaluable knowledge from this qualification however the RBL modules have given me the practical training and knowledge that has enabled me to transition from a property practitioner to a principal practitioner in a matter of months”.

“Rebosa Business Leader has been an incredibly empowering journey – it is truly about both skills and personal development. The learners are improving their knowledge and skills on a daily basis with practical assignments within the RBL. We have noticed their confidence build over the last few months, and their commitment to the industry is more embedded. The learners have shown great improvement since commencement and the RBL allows for practical application in the workplace”, says Ashley Habib, Charter Academy Coach.

“The goal with Rebosa Business Leader has always been to provide candidates with in-depth, practical knowledge. Over the years we’ve seen incredible agents and entrepreneurs fail when trying to open their own agency, mainly due to a lack of understanding and experience in what it takes to run a successful estate agency or franchise. The feedback from our sponsors, guest speakers, lecturers and the students themselves shows that we are achieving this goal”, shares Adrianne Du Toit, Head of Stakeholder Relations, Rebosa.

What the course teaches:

  • Setting up a real estate business
  • Market research for the new real estate business
  • Business, legal and regulatory compliance
  • Branding and marketing
  • Sales leadership
  • Recruitment
  • Operational management
  • Financial management
  • IT management
  • Risk management

Several industry heavy weights were invited to share their knowledge and know-how, including TT Mbha from Mzansi Cribs and Black Real Estate, Tony Clarke – Rawson Property Group CEO, Anthony Stroebel – Group Head, New Business Development at Pam Golding Properties, Allon Raiz – Founder and CEO of Raizcorp, Xoliswa Tini – Owner of Xoliswa Tini Properties, Bruce Gordon – Acting CEO at National Housing Finance Corporation and Adrian Goslett – Regional Director and CEO for RE/MAX of Southern Africa.

Noleen Fisher, Rawson Properties Mitchells Plain says, “This has been a new journey for me, where I’m introduced to the do’s and don’ts of real estate and what I’ve learned is to network, share, having satisfied clients, staff and adhere and keep to the rules of the Property Acts, Requirements and Laws. I never knew that there is so much to do to run a company, and what I’ve learned and still learning makes me more confident and happy that I can be part of the awesome team”.

“Receiving this bursary has inspired and motivated me to shift my focus from working in my business to working on it. I am excited to apply the information and principles going forward. I believe that future RBL bursary candidates will find this programme invaluable on their journey to becoming principals within the real estate industry,” Nathalie Smith Apollos – NSA Real Estate explains.
