In the dynamic world of real estate, many estate agents have emerged as true entrepreneurs, equipped with the skills and mindset to navigate the complexities of the property market. Beyond their traditional role as intermediaries between buyers and sellers, property practitioners globally have evolved to become enterprising individuals who recognise opportunities, build successful businesses, and drive industry innovation.

“Continuous learning is the minimum requirement for success in any field,” said Brian Tracy, author, and motivational speaker.  Tony Clarke, MD of Rawson Property Group, and a guest speaker and coach for the first Rebosa Business Leader programme agrees advising estate agents to “Be a lifelong student, the world changes constantly and dramatically, and as an entrepreneur, if you don’t recognise the need for continuous learning and adaptability in this ever-changing landscape, you die”.

There are several ways of gaining the necessary skills, and to build on them, agents can learn from other agents within the industry, attend in-house training and industry workshops listen to podcasts, read articles, and the like. To date, those have largely been the options available.

Now, there is another option, the Rebosa Business Leader (RBL) programme, delivered in partnership with Charter Academy which is a 5-month blended learning course culminating in a three-month mentorship programme. Ashely Habib, RBL head coach and student liaison at Charter Academy explains why the RBL is a valuable experience, “RBL has been an incredibly empowering journey – it is truly about both skills and personal development. Learners are improving their knowledge and skills daily with practical assignments and valuable insights from thought leaders. We have noticed their confidence build over the last few months, and their commitment to the industry is more embedded. Our learners have shown great improvement since commencement and RBL has given them the tools for practical application in the workplace”.

Xoliswa Tini, principal of Xoliswa Tini Properties, and RBL coach says that what impressed her most about the practitioners participating in the programme was, “The competence and good quality questions asked by the mentees, I could sense their enthusiasm. I also picked up that the problems they were voicing were not unique to them, but it is what is largely experienced by even the most experienced practitioners.”

Tini believes that RBL is “The best programme to get involved in because, without the foundational knowledge it provides, candidate practitioners will be lost in the industry and lose focus. It prepares practitioners for challenges that are encountered in the real world. I am sure anybody who has come through RBL will have a better chance of survival in the industry due to the soft skills they are exposed to in the programme”.

What do the students have to say?

The opportunity was presented at the right time when I needed guidance and support. I appreciated what the stakeholders had put into place in terms of this management course. I have gained so much knowledge within a short period from different lecturers and guest speakers. This whole experience exceeded my expectations, and I am already reaping the benefit. With it, there is no way that I cannot succeed in my business.  Funeka Fiki

The RBL programme has boosted my confidence and the way I view owning a real estate practice. The lecturers are not only book-smart and street-smart, but business leaders themselves, running successful businesses. This course has added value to my career and equipped me with the right tools and mindset to conquer the business world.  Zizi Kona

The learning has been monumental. I have learned so much and my real estate knowledge has been increased beyond expectations. Marcelle Lovell

This is a game changer and your investment in our training is highly appreciated, and already bearing fruit. Happy Senyarelo
