What are your top three secrets to success?

1. Never lie to a client, no matter the circumstances. Honesty is always the best policy.
2. Give feedback to your client on a weekly basis.
3. Remembering special occasions always makes your client feel special.

What is the one thing you wish someone had taught you or told you when you first started out in property?

That you won’t sell every property you list, and it’s ok to let some of them go.

What is the most vital business tool that estate agents should have at their disposal in today’s market and why?

Access to the internet is a must. A lot of buyers are not looking at newspapers anymore; they’re only looking on the web.

Tell us about the first property you sold.

It was a small facebrick house in Rowallan Park and I sold it for R620,000. My hand shook so much that I couldn’t fill in the offer to purchase. I had to go to the buyer’s house in Algoa Park and I didn’t know the area and I got lost going to the appointment to sign the offer!

What advice would you give to new kids on the block about making a success in their career in property?

Always be honest with your clients, and make them feel special.
