eXp Realty South Africa
eXp Realty South Africa says its national network has grown to more than 1,400 agents, a milestone that positions the company among the largest independent, non-franchised real estate companies in the country.
The business reports that over the past five years, it has expanded from outside the upper ranks of national agencies to what it describes as a top-three position overall by agent numbers.
The company operates on a cloud-based model rather than traditional brick-and-mortar franchise structures, an approach it says has enabled local expansion by allowing agents to run individual businesses within a shared network.
International context
Felix Bravo, managing director of eXp International, said South Africa has become the company’s largest market outside North America.
“South Africa’s rise to become our largest market outside of North America is a powerful example of what happens when ambitious agents are given the right platform to grow,” he said.
Bravo added that similar growth patterns have occurred in markets including the United States, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and France. He noted that in the United Kingdom, where the company reports leading positions in listings and sales, agents are achieving an average time-to-sale of 47 days, compared to the industry average of 89 days.
“What’s happening in South Africa reflects that same momentum. Agents are choosing eXp because it allows them to build sustainable, scalable businesses while remaining fully independent, and reaching 1,400 agents is a major milestone in that journey,” he said.
Local growth trajectory
Andrew Thompson, country leader for eXp Realty South Africa, said the past five years have focused on building a national network around an independent operating model.
“We’ve built something very special here in South Africa over the past five years, and this momentous milestone reflects the trust that agents across the country have placed in our model,” he said.
“Becoming the largest independent brokerage in South Africa is not just about size, it’s about creating an environment where professionals can thrive, collaborate, and deliver outstanding service to their clients.”
The company’s expansion comes as alternative agency structures, including virtual and hybrid models, continue to gain traction globally as agencies explore different operational frameworks beyond traditional franchised offices.
