Advertorial

The estate agent has evolved from salesperson to educator, advisor, market interpreter, and long-term partner. This adaptation is reflective of an ever-changing and more informed consumer mindset, which makes The Property Show by Private Property, taking place at Decorex from 30 July to 2 August at the Sandton Convention Centre, the most compelling reason for property professionals to attend; with or without clients.

The event provides an opportunity for agents to understand what today’s buyers are learning, the questions they are asking, and the information influencing their property decisions.

Instead of leaving consumers to source their own knowledge acquisition from dozens of websites, videos, opinions, and other resources, Private Property has, effectively through The Property Show, centralised the consumer property ecosystem. It brings together credible experts, including financial institutions, real estate agents, and educators, making attendance equally valuable for agents who want to stay aligned with consumer thinking.

Very simply, to position yourself as a trusted property advisor, you need to understand the same information that your clients are exposed to, or consuming.

Theme

This year’s theme, Your Property Journey Starts Here, is descriptive of the reality that many people are at a different point in the property lifestyle. This has led to three educational pillars, descriptive of the key stages of property ownership, which the Show addresses:

  • Start
For many consumers, purchasing a property remains intimidating. By helping buyers understand the practical steps involved, this pillar aims to create greater confidence and readiness. This pillar covers:
    • First-time homeownership.
    • Pre-approvals and affordability.
    • Financial readiness.
    • Home loan preparation.
    • Understanding the buying process.
  • Grow
Property remains one of South Africa’s most effective long-term wealth creation tools. Investors, new and experienced, will gain valuable insights into how property can contribute to financial growth over time. This pillar explores:
    • Property investment.
    • Portfolio building.
    • Wealth creation strategies.
    • Long-term investment planning.
    • Understanding property cycles.
  • Live
Property ownership is about more than investment returns; it is also about lifestyle, comfort, and achieving personal goals. This pillar recognises that consumers continue to make property decisions based on both financial and lifestyle considerations. Topics include:
    • Dream homes.
    • Upgrading and renovating.
    • Lifestyle financing.
    • Home improvements.
    • Maximising long-term value.

These pillars provide a comprehensive picture of the modern property journey, aspects which every agent should be able to discuss confidently with clients.

What consumers and agents will learn

Across the four days, The Property Show presents live theatre shows hosted by some of the country’s most respected financial and property minds and influencers:

Independent property and wellbeing economist John Loos will unpack the economic outlook, interest rates, affordability, investment hotspots, and housing demand.

Personal finance journalist Maya Fisher-French will help consumers understand budgeting, credit scores, and financial readiness before purchasing a property.

Financial educator Nicolette Mashile will explore how South Africans can build long-term wealth through property while improving their financial wellbeing.

Property professional Kura Chihota will discuss how to select the right estate agent when buying or selling.

Entrepreneur, founder of Good Things Guy, and author Brent Lindeque, will direct how to find opportunity in every property journey.

Chief Revenue Officer of Private Property, Simóne Cloete, provides guidance on starting a property journey the right way, whether as a buyer, seller, renter, or investor.

Invite your clients

By encouraging your clients to attend The Property Show alongside you, sends a powerful message that your relationship with them extends beyond a sale or rental agreement. It shows that you want to guide them to make informed property decisions, that you are aligned to their aspirations, and wish to address any of their concerns. It also means your advice will be more attuned to their thinking and homeownership or investment strategies.

Visitors will be able to engage with exhibitors like home finance specialists BetterBond, investment specialists Prosperity Enterprises, the home wellness brand iTouch, banking institution Nedbank Limited – which this year is Private Property’s The Property Show headline partner – and numerous other organisations. This presents an opportunity for agents to introduce themselves to the exhibitors and establish a professional relationship.

Aside from The Property Show, visitors can traverse all five floors of the Decorex Joburg event covering building and renovations, décor, lighting, furniture, textiles, appliances, and the best of local and international design. You’ll also find curated installations, room sets, designer showcases, and the Design Market, alongside cafés, restaurants, bars, and live demonstrations that bring ideas to life.

Plan your visit and secure your ticket

To make the most of your time at The Property Show, it’s worth planning your visit before purchasing your Decorex ticket.

Start by browsing the theatre programme at https://www.thepropertyshow.co.za/agenda and identify the presentation(s) you would most like to attend. Some sessions will be repeated over the four-day event, so be sure to purchase a Decorex ticket for the day on which your chosen session is scheduled. Your admission ticket is valid only for the day you have selected and cannot be transferred to another day.

While your Decorex ticket gives you access to The Property Show, theatre seats cannot be booked or reserved in advance. Each presentation is limited to 40 attendees, with seating allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If there’s a session you don’t want to miss, arrive at the theatre early, as popular presentations are expected to fill up quickly.

Purchase your Decorex tickets online at:

The event runs from 30 July to 02 August • 10am to 6pm.
