This agent just became an instant millionaire

Albertus Myburgh from RE/MAX estate agency became an instant millionaire on 20 July 2016, walking away with the BetterLife Dream Lottery million rand cash prize at a gala event held at the Protea Hotel Fire & Ice at Melrose Arch in Johannesburg.

A total of 32,970 entries were received from agents. One scratch card was awarded for every qualifying Offer to Purchase submitted to BetterLife Home Loans. Of these, only 471 golden ticket holders secured places in the nine regional draws which were held to narrow down the pool of finalists and ultimately increase the agents’ chances of winning. Around 10% of names drawn per region moved on to the final draw, receiving an exclusive boarding pass to attend the gala event. The names of the 51 finalists were printed onto the Dream Machine Wheel of Fortune. After BetterLife Home Loans CEO Shaun Rademeyer spun the wheel, it stopped on Myburgh’s name.

“In April 2015 we launched our 1 Million Rand Dream Machine initiative for all agents in the industry. To qualify to enter, they had to register with the BetterRewards loyalty programme and send Offers to Purchase,” says Rademeyer. “The campaign was born out of our Dream Bigger, Live Better Dream Lottery with the purpose of making a difference and changing lives as well as promoting our intake of Offer to Purchase applications. We believe in making dreams come true. We do it for our customers every day by making their dream of owning a home a reality.”

Commenting on his win, an elated new millionaire Myburgh says that it is unbelievable. He is thrilled and will spend some of the money on finishing the build on his dream home.
