The real estate industry – like most industries – is one of constant shifts and changes. Keeping abreast of legal- and market changes, compliance requirements, technological advancements and effective marketing trends is essential for agents wanting to offer the level of real estate services that today’s clients expect and deserve.

One of the most distinctive features of the Rawson Property Group is the emphasis placed on the continuous training of all their members through their accredited Training Academy. The aim of their training approach is to support each and every member in their professional journey, and help them remain engaged, motivated, and continuously growing and excelling in their careers.

“Training has always been a critical focus for us, but we’ve placed even more emphasis on it in recent years. Our industry is evolving rapidly, and we’ve made it our mission to support and encourage our franchisees and agents to adapt and thrive – in any global landscape or local market conditions,” says Jeanne-Mare Oosthuizen, General Manager of the Rawson Property Group.

Comprehensive, ongoing, free

Thaabiet Domingo, the Group’s National Training Manager, agrees and explains that Rawson invested extensively into turning their Training Academy into a truly comprehensive learning resource for every division of our business, including residential and commercial property sales and rentals. “The comprehensive – and completely free – in-house training academy incorporates a blended approach to learning and adult education,” says Domingo.

Franchisees, agents and administrative staff are able to sharpen their skills at their own pace, anywhere, and as often as they like with interactive learning material and relevant, engaging content delivered in a variety of formats.

Domingo further explains that the Rawson training offering includes specialised courses aimed at upskilling newcomers to real estate; continuous skills development programmes; courses focusing various aspects of business leadership; ongoing marketing- and compliance-focused workshops; and a unique franchisee and agent mentorship programme. “You would be hard pressed to find even a high-performing, experienced agent who does not agree that there is always room for improvement, always something to learn,” says Domingo. A huge amount of resources and focus also goes into facilitating a proprietary programme aimed at expediting and streamlining statutory training. Rawson agents are guided and supported through the entire real estate qualification process, and these programmes are offered to them at no cost.

Support beyond the ordinary

Esmeralda Moore, Sales Partner at Rawson Properties Goodwood, is one of many agents blown away by the quality of the training on offer, as well as the efficiency of the Rawson Training Academy. “I am extremely grateful for this opportunity to invest time and effort into up-skilling myself and getting the necessary qualifications, without having the financial burden of training costs and course fees holding me back,” says Moore.

Phoenix-based Sales Partner Famedha Ashanand shares Moore’s gratitude by stating that the training courses were engaging and fun. “It’s such a supportive environment and has made me so much more positive about embracing the education process. Never stop learning!”

A culture where learning is not just encouraged, but facilitated

The importance of an office culture that champions learning is key, according to Tony Clarke, Managing Director, Rawson Property Group : “Having an office culture where growth and development is approached in a collaborative manner creates an environment where learning is embraced. Principals play a key role in their agents’ attitude towards training and development, and as an agent – especially a less experienced agent – you would do well to join a team where learning is encouraged and facilitated from the top down.

“Often there is a cost associated with attending training training programmes, both for learning as well as education compliance purposes. Principals willing to invest time and money in the development of their agents will most definitely have more productive agents in a shorter amount of time. Therefore, agents looking to join a real estate business or brand would do well to assess the training culture and offering before making a final decision.”
