This April, Danie Barnard of RE/MAX Coast and Country in Kwa-Zulu Natal proudly celebrated a rare and remarkable milestone- 50 years in real estate!

Danie began his journey in 1974 at the age of just 20. By 26, he was managing a major branch of one of South Africa’s largest estate agencies. Soon after, he founded his own firm, which went on to become the leading agency in Kempton Park. During that time, he trained many agents—several of whom went on to head up their own offices—and played an active role in industry leadership as Chairman of the Kempton Park Estate Agents’ Association.

From launching the Kempton Park Homefinder publication to developing over 1,500 affordable homes and spearheading a 694-unit security village funded by the Chinese government for the Edenvale Town Council, Danie’s contributions have been both groundbreaking and community-focused.

Between 2002 and 2014, he helped drive sales at Eagle Canyon Golf Estate, ultimately reaching just R4 million short of R1 billion in total sales. He later joined RE/MAX 2000 in 2014 and, following a one-year sabbatical in 2021, returned to the brand with RE/MAX Coast and Country in 2022.

When asked why, Danie simply said:

“Well, why would anyone not choose RE/MAX?”

Broker/owner Pat Symcox shared: “Danie’s incredible career, unmatched experience, and dedication to excellence are truly inspiring. It’s an honour to have him on our team.”

Danie’s legacy is one of leadership, innovation, and service, and after 50 years, he’s still going strong. We celebrate his golden milestone and look forward to the chapters yet to come.
