What are your top three secrets to success?

To make everyone feel special, and not like they’re a business deal. To keep your promises, and give feedback, even if it’s negative.


What is the one thing you wish someone had taught you or told you when you first started out in property and why?

Never take it personally.


What is the most vital business tool that estate agents should have at their disposal in today’s market and why?

To always have internet access, and to be able to access sales data even if you’re in the middle of nowhere.


Do you remember the first property you sold?

Yes, it was in 1999. The first property I listed was on the market for R120,000 in Westering, Port Elizabeth. It was in need of some attention and had been left vacant. It was a huge sense of achievement for me – my first sale in my new career!


What advice would you give to new kids on the block about making a success in their career in property?

Get everything in writing, even if it’s an SMS. And be aware of your safety.
