This June, the Real Estate Business Owners of South Africa (REBOSA) proudly represented South Africa at the National Association of Realtors (NAR) Regional Leadership Summit, held in Lagos, Nigeria. Themed “Strengthening Partnerships for Sustainable Development through Collaboration, Growth, Innovation and Resilience in Africa,” the summit gathered real estate leaders and organisations from across the continent and beyond to build deeper cross-border relationships and foster stronger professional networks.
REBOSA Director Rob Tsekoa contributed to the summit proceedings and, in a Regional Case Studies panel session, introduced the Rebosa Business Leader (RBL) model – an entrepreneurial educational framework aimed at transforming the real estate sector by developing business-ready leaders, particularly among historically disadvantaged practitioners.
The summit, convened by the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), brought together its African bilateral partners, including:
- The Association of Estate Agents of Nigeria (AEAN)
- The Ghana Real Estate Professionals Association (GREPA)
- The Association of Real Estate Agents Uganda (AREA-U)
- and REBOSA, representing South Africa
The programme featured key sessions on real estate investment readiness, proptech innovation, and advocacy strategies. Kevin Brown, NAR’s 2025 President-elect, opened the event, joined by special advisors from the Lagos State Government and NAR’s Global Ambassador to Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, and Uganda, Mr. Frank Oti, who played an instrumental role in convening the summit.
In a statement issued on behalf of REBOSA, warm congratulations were extended to Mr. Brown on his appointment as NAR President-elect. REBOSA also expressed their gratitude to Mr. Oti for initiating the first formal African Regional Summit, which marks a milestone in creating unified platforms for regional dialogue and collaboration in the property sector.
Following the summit, REBOSA has begun engaging with AEAN, GREPA, and AREA-U to explore potential areas of collaboration and shared priorities. These early interactions reflect a collective commitment to strengthening regional relationships and advancing professionalism across the continent.
As part of its broader mission, REBOSA remains dedicated to supporting transformation and fostering greater connectivity within the African real estate community, working in alignment with NAR and its global partners.
