Two weeks ago, we reported that Charter Academy has partnered with Rebosa to present a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programme, offering the real estate industry an alternative to the PPRA’s  CPD programme.

Agents now have a choice which programme to register for as both programmes ensures compliance with the CPD requirements of the PPRA.

Misleading information

“It has come to our attention that someone is wilfully misleading estate agents by spreading a rumour that Charter Academy’s accreditation to offer  CPD training is not official. This is completely false, as can be seen by the certificate supplied by the PPRA in this regard. Agents are advised to disregard the rumour and contact Charter directly with any questions,” advises Jan le Roux, CEO of Rebosa.

Le Roux goes on to mention that the registration process has been very successful and that agents can make use of a special discounted R1,400 all-inclusive offer if they register before or on Monday, 31 March, saving R300.

Assurance of compliance

The Charter platform is integrated with PPRA’s system to ensure seamless, real-time communication. This integration will provide the following benefits:

  • The PPRA will have direct visibility into all property practitioners registered for CPD training with Charter Academy. Please ensure you register before 1 April 2025.
  • All registered users will be verified using their name, ID number, and seven-digit PPRA reference number.
  • As an additional safeguard, Charter will generate and share a manual report with the PPRA.
  • The PPRA will have real-time access to track practitioners’ progress in completing the four mandatory modules for the 2025 CPD year.
  • To further ensure accuracy, Charter will also generate and share a manual report for the PPRA as a failsafe measure.

The PPRA programme

For those who wish to continue with the PPRA CPD programme, the Authority announced on 20 March that its CPD 2025 will be uploaded and available in mid-April 2025.

“The PPRA is excited to be collaborating with two of the industry partners, IREM and Lightstone, to enhance your professional development experience. Please remember that the PPRA continues to provide Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities and works with accredited training providers to ensure quality education for all our participants”.
